Alvin Lady Yellowjackets’ junior hurler and Maxpreps National High School Under­classman All-American Jodie Aguirre headed the list of seven area diamond standouts, who were selected to the 2019 Collin Street Bakery/Texas Sportswrit­ers Association’s All-State Soft­ball team.

Aguirre, who won a school record 33 games and struck out 344 batters to set another mark for the region semifinalist Lady Jackets, was named to the sec­ond team in Class 6A, while Shadow Creek freshman Jillian Gutierrez (.529, 37 RBI’s, 37 runs scored) was a 5A third team pick in the outfield.

Alvin senior shortstop Clar­issa Barron was an honorable mention selection in 6A, along with Lady Jackets’ junior third baseman Mary Pourcio and freshman catcher Victoria Val­dez.

Manvel senior catcher Bri­anna Garcia and Lady Sharks’ senior shortstop Aniyah Burns both gained honorable mention status in 5A, as well.

State champion Katy swept the individual awards with Kalum Haac receiving coach of the year honors and Lady Tigers’ Chloee Cobb and Alyssa LeB­lanc sharing TSWA player of the year accolades. Angleton, who won the title in 5A, did likewise with Cindy Rubio and Aaliyah Garcia collecting the coach and player awards, respectively.
